Save the Date: E.A.S.T.

It’s almost time for the East Austin Studio Tour.  I’ll have my studio open both weekends: November 12th & 13th and 19th & 20th.   I have some really great work and if all goes well I’ll also be launching a new product at E.A.S.T.

Following tradition my studio complex, Cobra Studios, will be hosting the 3rd annual Cobra Show.  Last year had 2 bands, free tequila/margaritas, a light show, and a fire-eater.  I’m sure this one will be just as awesome.  Not sure if anyone has built the Wheel of Awesomeness 2.0 or not but I’m sure something amazing will appear.

How do you like your coffee?

How do you start your day?  If you’re a coffee drinker who needs a kick-start in the morning.  This full-sized mug has enough room for your jolt of caffeine and still leaves room for milk.  It’s going to be available in the Online Store very, very soon…

The webstore is almost ready…

I’m in the final steps of getting the Kreeger Pottery Online Store up and running.  I’m going to start with a limited edition run of work for sale as I get acclimated to the new system.  I should have about 20 or so pots for sale starting next week.  I have already had some takers on the Free Shipping deal and the Online Store isn’t even ready yet!  I’ve decided to extend the Free Shipping Offer through December 15th which is the last day that I can ship and get your gift to you by Christmas.

I’m putting the final touches on the photos now and the behind the scenes work is getting done by my wonderful Web Designer, Jenny Medford from Websy Daisy.  Stay tuned!

Ceramics: A Fragile History

Found this great BBC Film via Carole Epp’s wonderful Musing About Mud.  The film is definitely worth checking out.

Photoshoot Day

I’ve been photographing my work all day.  I know believe that photography, especially product photography is worse on your back than being a potter.  I feel like I’ve been hunched over a tripod all day.  I’m getting as many pots done as I can as I get ready to launch the new Kreeger Pottery Webstore.  I’ll have more details on that next week but for now…it’s back to photographing the work.  Tomorrow is going to be spend hunched over a computer editing and selecting the keepers.

Video Time?

This will be the only time I use the term “vlogging” as I’m not a big fan of it.  I also hope that this will be the only video of me just sitting in front of my iMac’s built in iSight.  But, since my studio is still a mess and I haven’t even finished unpacking from Houston last weekend it’s not worth either giving a tour or attempting to find the space to demo.  The rest of this week is going to be spent photographing work and getting it onto the blog and onto the still “hidden” Webstore that I’m working on with my fantastic Web Designer, Jenny from Websy Daisy.

In the meantime, check out the first and hopefully not last video for the blog.  The only thing I’d like to edit out is sounding a little too down on outdoor craft shows.  They may be right for some of you but my time under an E-Z Up is pretty much done.  I’ll still do one from time to time but I’m going to be focusing on other ways of getting my work to you.  As I’ve said before (and say in the video) I’m offering free-shipping for my work through November.  Until the Webstore is active we’re going old school and you’re going to have to call or email me.  Check out the Contact page for the info.

And, lastly…the slight delay in getting the photos done for the Webstore was a quick trip to NY to meet my newest Nephew….My little sister now has 3 boys and my folks now have 8 grandkids.

New York, NY

I’m off to NY tomorrow for a quick family visit and to meet my newest nephew!  While I’m there I’m going to take the opportunity to check out a couple of clay-related events going on.  First up is a trip to the Clay Art Center, which was my first post-college studio.  My friend Jill Oberman has a show up in the Clay Art Center Gallery with Jury Smith that I’m looking forward to seeing.  We have one of Jill’s wall pieces in our home and we absolutely love it.

Then, I’m hoping to check out the EARTH exhibition as my former teacher, D. Leslie Ferst has some work in this large group show.

And…nope, I’m not flying the glorious Pan-Am Airlines of the new television show but rather your traditional, espionage lacking, customer service lacking newly merged but unmerged behomoth, Continental…or is it United?  photo borrowed from here.

60% chance of rain = 100% Free Shipping!

Well…the downside of doing an outdoor show is that we’re at the mercy of the weather.  This weekend a 20% chance of showers each day turned to 50% chance of sprinkles on Saturday and a full-blown thunderstorm on Sunday.

Sunday's Weather Radar

Because of the wash-out I’m going to offer Free Shipping on any work through November 1st.

Free Shipping!

Since my webstore still isn’t live we’re going to have to do this early 2000’s internet style and just give me a call and I’ll take your order.  I’ll post pictures of work available on this blog as well as my Facebook Page throughout the week.

I was going to do this for Houston area zipcodes only but that didn’t seem fair to everyone else so it’s free shipping for any address in the Continental U.S.

The orders will ship either FedEx or UPS Ground unless you’d like enough to fill all those shipping containers.  Image from flickr.
